Some towns reported receiving more than 18 inches of snow during prolonged winter storm Gardner News GARDNER A major nor’easter blew through the region from Monday into Tuesday this week, dumping nearly 18 inches of snow across much of Greater Gardner. Strong overnight winds caused even higher snowdrifts against houses, garage doors, and cars. “This was a typical nor’easter,” explained Alan Dunham, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Boston. “This one had a little bit more moisture with it, also it was a little bit of a longer duration storm, so that accounts for the higher snowfall amounts we’re seeing.” ....

Nor easter storms Greater Gardner with first major snow of the season Some places receive about a foot of snow Gardner News GARDNER The first major winter storm of the season hit the Northeast on Thursday, Dec. 17, dumping about a foot of light, powdery snow across much of the Greater Gardner area. “We had everything ready to go for this storm,” said Mayor Michael Nicholson on Thursday morning. “Crews starting plowing last night around 11 p.m. and are still out working. They will likely be out until the early hours of (Friday) morning salting and sanding to make sure the roads are passable.” ....
