Alma Raven-Guido, 19, is accused of pouring flammable liquid onto the Portland Police Association building on April 13, 2021. Three plastic bottles that appeared to contain an accelerant were found in her backpack, according to a court affidavit.

Alma Yessenia Raven-Guido made her first appearance Thursday afternoon via video in U.S. District Court in Portland. Assistant Federal Public Defender Francesca Freccero entered a not guilty plea to the one-count arson indictment on Raven-Guido’s behalf.
FBI agents arrested the teen at her Beaverton home Wednesday afternoon and she spent a night in Portland’s downtown jail. ....

A federal judge on Tuesday declined to release college senior Matthew Klein, one of two Oregon brothers accused in the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol, after finding his parents unsuitable to supervise him pending trial.
The ruling came after prosecutors submitted examples of text messages that showed Klein’s mother and father warning Matthew’s younger brother, Jonathanpeter Klein, that “braggers get caught.” ....

A bipartisan group of state lawmakers spoke out Wednesday on the need to hold Oregon universities accountable for their handling of sexual or racial harassment complaints on their campuses.
They’ve proposed a Senate resolution that would establish an eight-member Joint Committee on Respectful and Safe University Campuses.
