February has been an exciting month for drama fans. We saw the grand finales of well-loved dramas “True Beauty” and “Mr. Queen,” and we finally got the first episodes of highly-anticipated shows like “River Where the Moon Rises” and “The Penthouse 2.” Here are five K-dramas on Viki that viewers have been loving this month!
“True Beauty”
“True Beauty” is a high school romantic comedy about Lim Ju Gyeong (Moon Ga Young), who zealously uses makeup to hide her bare face and combat her insecurities about her looks. After she meets Lee Su Ho (ASTRO‘s Cha Eun Woo), a popular student who has his own emotional wounds, they share each other’s secrets and learn to heal through love. Completing the love triangle is Han Seo Jun (Hwang In Yeop), an untamable rebel with a surprisingly warm heart.
The end is here. After 10 weeks, 20 episodes, and more fun than any of us could have expected, “Mr. Queen” has wrapped up. This is one of those shows that will go down as zany, family-friendly, and above all, with real stakes, heart, and sheer fun!
Without further ado, let’s dive into everything that was amazing (and the one thing that wasn’t) about the latest quartet of episodes.
Warning: spoilers for episodes 17-20 below.
(Note: due to the ending of this show, Bong Hwan and So Yong will be differentiated and addressed by their respective names)
1. LOVED: Byeong In’s death
The historical fusion drama is about a man from modern times whose soul is trapped in the body of a queen from the Joseon dynasty. Shin Hye Sun stars as Kim So Yong, the Joseon queen with the soul of Blue House chef Jang Bong Hwan trapped inside her. Kim Jung Hyun plays her husband King Cheoljong, who is a weak and ineffective king on the outside but is stronger and sharper than he appears. Seol In Ah stars as Jo Hwa Jin, King Cheoljong’s first love who opposes Kim So Yong.
Seol In Ah shared, “I was nervous and felt pressure because it was my first historical drama in a long time. It was an enjoyable time. Since the teamwork between the actors, staff, and director was good, I was able to act more comfortably without the pressure I had expected.”
