Memorial Day weekend is a time to remember our fallen veterans. It is an opportunity to pause to remember and reflect upon the service and sacrifices made by all men and women who have served in the U.S. military.
For those still looking for ways to honor veterans a list of events scheduled the weekend of May 29-31 is below:
Atlanta
The community of Atlanta will host a Memorial Day event Monday, May 31 starting with a concert by the Atlanta Band at 9:30 a.m., on the lawn of the Atlanta Public Library, 100 Race St., Atlanta. The Recognition of Veterans event will begin at 10 a.m. featuring guest speaker Col. Shawn Green who is currently assigned to the Illinois Air National Guard, 183rd Wing, in Springfield.  He is the son of Harold and Georgia Green of Atlanta. ....

Drewry Estes Logan, of Hanover, N.H., died on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at Kendal at Hanover, following a short illness. She was 94.
She was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Martinsville, Va., and raised on a tobacco farm in Cascade, Va. She was the daughter of Bettie Starling Estes and James Dabney Estes. She graduated from St. Mary’s School in Raleigh, N.C., and was a music major at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. She received her bachelor’s degree in music from Syracuse University. She was also a graduate student at the Indiana University School of Music (now the Jacobs School of Music). ....
