Punjab BJP leader held with six cartons of liquor | Ludhiana News

JALANDHAR: Punjab BJP transport cell state president Ajay Joshi was arrested by the police with six cartons of liquor on Wednesday. Following this, the state BJP has relieved him from the party post.
Joshi is resident of Harnamdas Pura locality in Jalandhar. It is learnt that a car was intercepted by police at police naka near Paragpur on national highway, and when searched, the cops recovered six cartons of whiskey. Joshi was driving the car, and on questioning police found that he brought it from Ludhiana for selling in Jalandhar as there is a price gap between the two cities. He was booked under Excise Act. ....

NRIs remained misinformed due to suspension of internet, say farmers

Amid the suspension of the internet services on the Delhi-Haryana borders, farmers from the region, who had participated in the tractor march to the national capital, rued that they were not able to communicate with the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) from the state about the actual situation.
From donations to lending support to the agitating farmers from the beginning of the kisan andolan, NRIs have been playing a vital role in the movement. They have also been launching virtual campaigns to strengthen the farmers’ stir. However, post the tractor march, they are either ‘misinformed’ or are being provided half-baked information. ....

Commuters were at the receiving end on Saturday after a tractor rally was taken out on the city roads to lend support to farmers protesting against the contentious agriculture laws.
With rows of tractors, jeeps and cars taking over roads and highways, farmers continued to raise slogans against the Modi government.
Flaunting banners of ‘Kisan Union Ekta’, ‘No Farmers, No Food, No Future’ and ‘Repeal black laws’, as many as 3,000 farmers and youth took out the rally as a massive show of strength and unity.
A convoy of over 350 tractors and 300 other vehicles travelled for 25 km covering areas including Model Town, GTB Nagar, Guru Nanak Mission Chowk, Skylark Chowk, Nakodar Chowk, Kapurthala Chowk, BMC Chowk, bus stand, BSF Chowk and PAP. The police were also deployed to ensure that the rally remains peaceful. ....

How has your school been dealing with the challenges posed by Covid-19?
The main challenges we were exposed to by the pandemic have already been handled using trial-and-error method. We were earlier anticipating that the situation would normalise in winters, considering the downfall in infections, but with the mutation of this virus the panic state still persists. Besides, the whole online education concept came as a challenge for us. In fact, schools all around the country were not ready for online classes and the lack of technical support made it much tougher. Though it was troublesome for teachers to understand the concept of digital education and focus individually on every student, they managed to adapt themselves to the method. ....

Gurpreet Singh turned 22 in the month of June this year. He was unfortunately among those 24 farmers in the state, who died amid the ongoing protest against the ‘contentious’ farm laws.
The inconsolable family members of Gurpreet said while their loss was irreplaceable, the sacrifice of their son would pay off only when the black laws would be repealed.
Born and brought up in a family of farmers, Gupreet was the youngest of the present generation. While his elder brother and two sisters are settled in Australia, he was the only one in his family who was doing farming. Contrary to the trend of youngsters migrating to foreign countries to start a new life, Gurpreet was passionate about cultivating crops. He wanted to remain associated with agriculture only and had also brought a new happy seeder ....
