Odisha constitutes task force for medical oxygen management | Bhubaneswar News

BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Tuesday constituted a task force that would prepare and implement a plan for provisioning medical oxygen in all the healthcare facilities of the state.
The task force will be headed by Asit Tripathy, principal advisor to chief minister Naveen Patnaik while it will have eight other members including senior bureaucrats from departments like industries, works, health and representatives from industries associations like federation of Indian chamber of commerce and industry (FICCI) and Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ltd (UCCI).
According to a notification issued by the health and family welfare department, the task force will take up initiatives to increase production and provisioning of medical oxygen in the state. It will also engage with various stakeholders to improve the availability of cylinders and tankers for storage of medical oxygen and ensure enhancing the oxygen refilling capacity in the state. ....

BHUBANESWAR: Chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Thursday directed the officials concerned to expedite the construction of the Odisha Biotech Park at Andharua near the city to ensure production by June next year.
The progress of the park was reviewed by Mohaptra at the state-level biotech implementation committee meeting chaired by him. During the meeting, it came to light that the state has already granted the required statutory clearances and permissions for setting up the unit, an official statement said.
Officials said the biotech park, which is being set up through the Bharat Biotech International Ltd (BBIL), will produce around 10 types of advanced vaccines, including Covaxin. Though the government had allotted 30 acres at Andharua to the BBIL almost a decade ago for setting up the park, the project had remained a non-starter for years. ....

BHUBANESWAR: In a major boost to Odisha’s industrial landscape, the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AMNS India) on Thursday signed an MoU with the state government to set up a 12 mtpa integrated steel complex in Kendrapada district with an investment of Rs 50,000 crore.
The deal was signed here in presence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik and executive chairman of ArcelorMittal LN Mittal. The development came two days after Mittal met Union steel minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi where discussion about the proposed project was held, sources said. ....

Odisha CM directs double fund allocation to WODC

With the decision, the fund allocation to WODC will be Rs 200 crore in 2021-22 financial year.
After holding a review meeting, Patnaik also directed to open WODC offices in 10 districts in the western Odisha and one office at Athamallik in Angul district to expedite the development works in the region.
The Chief Minister also emphasised on the creation of more job opportunities for the youths.
The direction of the Chief Minister came ahead of his visit to Sundargarh district on Tuesday to lay the foundation stone of the country s largest hockey stadium on the campus of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT). ....

Focus on agro-enterprise: Asit Tripathy
Bhubaneswar: In a bid to enhance farmers’ income, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister and WODC chairman, Asit Tripathy, Tuesday directed the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment department to focus on agri-business and agro-enterprise.
While reviewing different programmes of the department here at Krushi Bhawan, Tripathy said, “Agro-enterprises with market linkages will bring real transformation in the rural sector. It will make the sector more rewarding and attractive for youths.”
Each district has its own potential. Because of the supportive business climate and promising returns, many private entrepreneurs have entered the agro-enterprise sector in the districts under the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC). They need handholding support, he said. ....
