Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], May 24 (ANI): The Odisha Government on Monday assigned the high risk districts to Senior Officers to supervise relief, rehabilitation and restoration work in the wake of the severe Cyclonic storm Yaas which is expected to hit the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal on May 26.
Listing the IAS officers, a statement issued by the Additional Secretary, Indramani Tripathy, read, The following 1AS officers are assigned the districts noted against each for supervision of relief, rehabilitation and restoration works arising out of very severe Cyclonic storm Yaas . The officers concerned are requested to proceed to the respective districts immediately. ....

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday released Rs 920 crore to the bank accounts of 42 lakh farmer families in the state under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme.
Through the Direct Benefit Transfer Mode, financial assistance was transferred to the bank accounts of 37 lakh small and marginal farmers and approximately 5 lakh landless agriculture households (LAH). ....

Focus on agro-enterprise: Asit Tripathy
Bhubaneswar: In a bid to enhance farmers’ income, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister and WODC chairman, Asit Tripathy, Tuesday directed the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment department to focus on agri-business and agro-enterprise.
While reviewing different programmes of the department here at Krushi Bhawan, Tripathy said, “Agro-enterprises with market linkages will bring real transformation in the rural sector. It will make the sector more rewarding and attractive for youths.”
Each district has its own potential. Because of the supportive business climate and promising returns, many private entrepreneurs have entered the agro-enterprise sector in the districts under the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC). They need handholding support, he said. ....
