BUTUAN CITY, May 10 The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in coordination with the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Caraga region, is currently conducting the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program payout/distribution of the stipend grants for the First Semester of 2021.
As of April 26, 2021, DSWD Caraga has a total amount disbursed of Php239,775,000.00 distributed to the 23,134 senior beneficiaries in Agusan del Norte; 34, 808 in Agusan del Sur; and 21,983 beneficiaries in Surigao del Norte. This brings the total to 79,925, or 53 percent of the total 170,000 targeted beneficiaries for the region have received their grants. ....

This year’s COVID-19 pandemic prodded the Duterte government to launch the first-of-its-kind and the biggest social amelioration initiative in the country’s history to provide financial relief to the country’s poor families who were economically displaced due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

All eyes were on the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the primary government agency tasked to look after the welfare and protection of millions of low-income families in the midst of the pandemic.
Over 31 million low-income families have benefited from the national government’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP), which was provided under the already-lapsed Republic Act No. 11469 or the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act”, popularly known as Bayanihan 1. ....

DSWD guarantees social protection programs under Bayanihan 2

Republic Act No. 11494 or the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2) provides the government’s assistance in the economic recovery of Filipinos in light of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

For its part, the DSWD is implementing the Bayanihan 2 Emergency Subsidy Program (ESP) for low-income, non-formal sector family beneficiaries affected by the implementation of community quarantine measures.

As of December 17, the department reported that there are already 142,058 beneficiaries who received their emergency subsidy under Bayanihan 2. From that number, 11,480 are from granular lockdown areas, while 130,578 are additional beneficiaries. The total subsidy distributed to the qualified beneficiaries reached more than P931 million. ....

Over 142,000 low-income families have received their entitled emergency subsidies, worth more than P931 million, the DSWD said.
“As of Dec. 17, there are 142,058 beneficiaries who received their emergency subsidy under Bayanihan 2,” it said in a statement.
Of the number, 11,480 recipients are from areas under granular lockdown, while 130,578 are additional beneficiaries or those who did not receive Social Amelioration Program (SAP) 1 and 2 subsidies.
“The total subsidy distributed to the qualified beneficiaries reached more than P931 million,” the DSWD said.
