PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 29 deaths and 1,245 cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday as the doctors working in coronavirus rapid response teams threatened to go on strike for regularisation of service.
The pandemic claimed 13 lives in Peshawar, eight in Mardan eight, five in Swat, and one each in Swabi, Buner and Abbottabad.
Peshawar and Mardan districts recorded 483 and 207 cases of coronavirus respectively, according to a report issued by health department. It said that the virus was widespread in the entire province. As the mortalities and cases are growing, the doctors working in Covid-19 rapid response teams also collect swabs from suspected patients. ....

17 die as Covid positivity rate reaches 24.4pc in Peshawar - Newspaper

PESHAWAR: As many as 17 more people, including a doctor, died of coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday as the positivity ratio for Covid-19 in Peshawar reached 24.4 per cent, the highest in the country.
Dr Saddam Dilawar Khan died of Covid at the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, taking the total number of medics falling to the virus to 50 in the province, according to the Provincial Doctors Association.
The province also recorded 984 new cases, said a report released by the health department. It said the province had so far recorded 2,457 deaths and 92,423 cases since start of the pandemic in February 2020.

PESHAWAR: The deadly Covid-19 has been proven paradoxically to be a blessing in disguise for general patients and government as doctors haven’t observed any strike during the pandemic despite facing longstanding problems.
“We have very pressing issues for the resolution of which we are requesting the health department from time to time but there is no response. Shuhada package sought for medics dying of Covid - Newspaper

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Doctors Association has expressed concern over increasing deaths of doctors due to Covid-19 and demanded Shuhada package for heirs of all the 62 health professionals, including 39 doctors, who laid their lives while saving other patients.
As the province’s death toll from coronavirus reached 1,638 with 11 new fatalities and 58,379 incidences with 397 fresh cases on Wednesday, PDA said that Dr Hola, a senior radiologist, died of Covid-19 on Tuesday and her husband Prof Dr Syed Iqrar Hussain Zaidi on Dec 4.
In a letter to KP secretary health, PDA chairman Dr Amir Taj Khan said the provincial cabinet on April 30 had approved Shuhada package for the families of martyred doctors which hadn’t been implemented so far. ....
