PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 29 deaths and 1,245 cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday as the doctors working in coronavirus rapid response teams threatened to go on strike for regularisation of service. The pandemic claimed 13 lives in Peshawar, eight in Mardan eight, five in Swat, and one each in Swabi, Buner and Abbottabad. Peshawar and Mardan districts recorded 483 and 207 cases of coronavirus respectively, according to a report issued by health department. It said that the virus was widespread in the entire province. As the mortalities and cases are growing, the doctors working in Covid-19 rapid response teams also collect swabs from suspected patients. ....

PESHAWAR: Students of private medical colleges have demanded of the government to change the centralised admission policy or approve 100 per cent increase in admission quota for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, a group of students led by Javed Sattar, Umer Farooq and Shafiq said that Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) had introduced a centralised admission policy, which had increased problems for the students belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Referring to the population and number of medical and dental colleges in Punjab and other provinces, the students said that in open merit policy it would be very difficult for the KP students to get admission even in local medical and dental colleges due to centralised policy. ....
