OAKLAND, Calif. - Erik Mrazek thought he might be winding down for the night. It was after midnight on Tuesday and he had just returned from another call at Highland Hospital.
But then, the 44-year-old supervising paramedic for Falck checked in with his ambulance crew one more time at the hospital just before 12:30 a.m.

OAKLAND, Calif. (CBS13/AP) At least two shooters opened fire on a party bus driving on a San Francisco Bay Area freeway early Tuesday, killing two females and wounding at least five others, authorities said.
The passengers were celebrating a woman’s 21st birthday when the bus was attacked around 12:20 a.m. on Interstate 580 as it was returning to Oakland from San Francisco, the East Bay Times reported.
At least two shooters in another vehicle began firing at the bus, then followed it off the freeway and continued shooting at it on city streets, authorities said. About 70 rounds were fired at the bus.

The victim, Zoey Hughes, and a 19-year-old from Stockton died when gunmen opened fire on the freeway.
Family and friends are devastated tonight, knowing that a birthday celebration turned deadly and took the life of a daughter, sister, and friend. Loved ones want those responsible behind bars.
“She was just my baby girl,” said Christina Hughes, Zoey’s mother.
Balloons, candles, and pictures filled the front yard of Christina Hughes’ home honoring Zoey.
