Dust down your slow cooker. The Seventies favourite is back, with sales surging and the internet buzzing with recipe searches. I couldn’t be more delighted. I use mine weekly, for anything that needs nurturing in a gentle, constant heat.
They are far more fuel efficient than turning on the oven, or even ­sticking the pan on a low heat – plus there is no concern about them boiling dry. You can leave the house or go to bed without worrying about kitchen disasters. In fact, the more they are left alone, the better.
