Apathy, alleged hoarding of materials, others mar Delta LG poll

Voter apathy, alleged hoarding of voting materials and other irregularities on Saturday marred the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission-organised local government election in most parts of Delta State.
These and more were some of the reasons the leading opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) announced its withdrawal midway in the election, describing it as a sham. 
This is coming in spite of assurances on Friday by Mr Arubi Orugboh, Director of Public Affairs, DSEIC, that electoral officers and election materials had been despatched to all local government areas and wards ahead of the Saturday’s poll. 
At Unit 2 and 3 in Ewu Ward 1, Uvwie where voting was to take place, it was under lock and key as of 11:00a.m when the APC Vice Chairmanship Candidate, Elder Solomon Oduaran, headed there to cast his vote. ....

After much agitation across the country for a replacement of the Service Chiefs following worsening security situation, President Muhammadu Buhari, last Tuesday, finally appointed a new set of Security heads.
Nigerians were almost united in condemning the performance of the sacked service chiefs. So much is therefore expected from the new helmsmen. They are expected to excel where their predecessors failed.
Nigerians want our roads to be free from kidnappers’ control. Nigerians pray for an end to the insurgency. In order to achieve all these, the citizens expect the new service chiefs to bring new ideas. They desire an entirely new approach to tackling terror and banditry. They spoke of their high expectations and what they believe the new service chiefs should do differently. ....
