welcome back to our continuing coverage of the republican national convention which is taking c place, first night under way right now in milwaukee, wisconsin. this ismi happening, of course, during a frankly sort of insane time in the presidential campaign. and that counts for both campaigns. since joe biden s performance at the first debate came very near to upending his candidacy, president biden has been demonstrating what an energized, fired up biden campaign looks like. he s made about two dozen public appearances including rallies and fund-raisers and interviews. that fire hose of campaigning, a though, stopped instantly after the assassination attempt saturday night against his opponent in the race. since then, joe biden as president has made a number of appearances and public remarks about the assassination attempt. it started with a written statement on saturday, saying he had been briefed on the incident, he was praying for donald trump and his family. saying he ex
thinks he is the best candidate to defeat donald trump. the bottom line here is that we re not going anywhere. i am not going anywhere. i wouldn t be running if i didn t absolutely believe that i am the best candidate to beat donald trump in 2024. he s just a liar, and he hasn t done a damn thing since the debate. he s been riding around the golf cart at mar-a-lago talking with his wealthy friends. you know me well enough to know this, i ran because i never bought on to the trickle down economic theory. i never bought into the notion that we have to walk away from the rest of the world in a cave to putin or anybody else. i ve never believed any of, that and i m confident that s who the american people are. by the way, this morning the president also sent a two-page letter to his democratic allies writing among other things, quote, the question of how to move forward has been well-aired for over a week now and it is time for it to end. we have one job and that is to beat d

start forcing employees to either get the covid vaccine or submit to regular covid tests. my job as president is to protect all americans. so tonight, i m announcing that the department of labor is developing an emergency rule to require all employers with 100 or more employees that together employ over 80 million workers to ensure their workforces are fully vaccinated. or show a negative test at least once a week. jesse: joe biden added that if state governments don t go along with this, he will use my power as president to get them out of the way. on what power does the president have to override state governments on this issue exactly? joe biden didn t say. maybe it s the same authority that allowed at the cdc to suspend all evictions in the country. this administration no longer cares about the rules, they will do whatever they want. keep in mind, less than a year ago joe biden told us that vaccines would never be mandatory. he knew he didn t have the authority to do
