Bihar is the latest Indian state to enter lockdown

The eastern Indian state of Bihar is entering a state-wide lockdown until May 15.
Bihar s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the plans on Tuesday in a Twitter post, saying: After discussion with associate ministers and officials yesterday, it was decided to implement the lockdown in Bihar uniil May 15, 2021. Based on detailed guidelines and other activities, today, the crisis management group has been instructed to take action.
Kumar did not indicate when the lockdown would officially go into effect.
Bihar is the latest Indian state to enforce a lockdown as the country attempts to quell the country s deadly Covid-19 surge.

Lax social distancing measures may worsen the COVID-19 situation in May, which is the month of the family in Korea, according to medical experts, who warned that the country may see spikes in infections due to increased gatherings.
The government announced Friday it will extend the current social distancing scheme ― Level 2 in the greater Seoul area and Level 1.5 in other regions ― for another three weeks until May 23. The current guidelines were initially scheduled to end at midnight May 2.

South Korea said on Wednesday it will offer some exemptions to mandatory quarantine measures for people who have been fully inoculated against COVID-19, in an effort to encourage more vaccinations.
South Korea has so far vaccinated 4% of its 52 million strong population, but has set an ambitious target of giving shots to 70% of its people by September and reaching herd immunity by November.
From May 5, residents who have had both coronavirus vaccine shots will not have to undergo the mandatory two-week quarantine for people who have been in contact with a confirmed patient or have returned from overseas travel, âYoon Tae-ho, a senior health ministry official, told a briefing.
