I will work for the well-being of the Hartford community
I am running for the remainder of a two-year term on the Hartford Selectboard in the Aug. 10 special election.
Thirty years of teaching in public, private and parochial schools, fifth grade to college, with the majority of years at Hanover High School, has taught me the valuable asset of being a good listener, as well as an understanding of human nature. Teachers work not only with students, but also with administrators, colleagues and staff alongside concerned parents. Like Selectboard members, we are responsible and responsive to the public, even while enjoying our work. ....

'A Christmas Carol': Willem Lange tells it as Dickens did | Vermont Arts


East Montpelier raconteur Willem Lange has been delivering his reading of Charles Dickens’ beloved “A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story” every year since 1975. For those 45 years, he has performed the version Dickens presented in public readings some 127 times including in the United States.
“Dickens had the gift of finding the sensitive spot in each of us — rather like scratching a puppy in a particular place and making it wave a hind leg,” Lange said. “I love the moment in the story when Scrooge, emerging from the horror of seeing his plundered corpse in his own bedroom, wakes to the joy of his new-born self, tries tentatively to laugh, and the amused audience laughs along with him.” ....
