In this webinar, we will present and discuss the results of Heavy Reading s Q1 2022 Global Carrier Edge Survey, which investigates the decisions service providers are making today as they deploy edge computing solutions. We offer insights into the diverse challenges, both technical and organizational, that carriers face and how they are addressing those challenges. We investigate the features service providers are demanding in their edge computing platforms and how they are deploying those platforms e.g. in a hybrid cloud model with both private and public platforms or something else? We also examine the role of the partner ecosystem and how it is evolving for edge computing services. As the market overall shifts cloud focus to the edge, we discuss how the service providers are defining their edge, the workloads that will benefit most from an edge computing solution and how carriers will monetize those workloads and solutions ....
The edge has become the epicenter of strategic focus in the ICT sector, opening up new market opportunities across the ecosystem. To understand the industry, technology and application evolutions driving edge computing, along with critical issues such as the timeline of adoption and the anticipated ROI for the CSPs, Heavy Reading conducted a survey with 82 CSPs who have launched edge computing solutions or are planning to do so within 24 months.
We wanted to understand how CSPs are selecting the platforms and systems that power a highly distributed edge. What are the architectures that can support the compute, storage and latency requirements of enterprise customers in a differentiated and competitive manner without stressing the CSP s budget? What are the management tools, security implementations, automation solutions and partnering strategies that enable an agile and flexible CSP and can be replicated across the vast edge frontier?
Cloud Native brings with it the promise of Faster time to market (TTM) for new services and applications, improved, automated and comprehensive life cycle management (LCM) and a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) through the use of containers and microservices.
As compelling as these, and many other, benefits may seem, cloud native represents a fundamental change in the way CSPs design, deploy and manage applications and services. We wanted to understand what was motivating the CSPs in their adoption of cloud native, where they were in the journey what obstacles they were encountering and how they were making their choice of cloud native solution providers and partners.
