The Wayne County Engineer’s Office will service over 135 miles of county roads this year. It also plans to replace nine large culverts. Projects currently disrupting traffic are on Dalton Fox Lake Road and South Elyria Road.
Dalton Fox Lake Road (County Road 32) between Church Road and Burkhard Road
Project: Culvert replacement
Time frame: 30 days
Detour: Traveling on Church Road, turn north onto state Route 94 then east onto Burton City Road. Reverse the directions for the opposite route of travel.
South Elyria Road (County Road 149) between state Routes 226 and 3

Time frame: 14 days

Distribution warehouses slated for industrial park


Second warehouse in the works
A nearly 200,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center that will include a parking lot for trailers and trucks will occupy the second parcel of land directly east of Wooster Brush, said Jacob Holdeman, development associate at Indiana-based development firm Scannell Properties.
It was originally proposed at a different location, but after review and recommendation from the city, they moved the facility to here, said Andrew Dutton, the city s planning and zoning manager.
After the new proposal was drawn up, the city s planning commission reviewed and approved Holdeman s request for a larger outdoor parking area than what city code allowed at its April 1 meeting. ....

Wooster annexes property for Wooster Innovation Industrial Park
WOOSTER The city grew by 134 acres overnight.
Wooster City Council on Monday approved the annexation of the former Five L Farms property. The city purchased four parcels totaling 134.215 acres last year with plans to develop the property into the Wooster Innovation Industrial Park.
“I think it will be a real boon for the city and we’ll start reaping the benefits sooner than later,” said Council President Mike Buytendyk.
The property stretches from Melrose Drive to Geyers Chapel Road, directly north of the industries on Old Airport Road and the Daisy Brand plant. Mayor Bob Breneman said in his state of the city address last month that the city has already met with several prospective businesses about building at the park. ....
