Controversial zoning request for Rosewood Heights business approved Scott Cousins, scousins@thetelegraph.com FacebookTwitterEmail EDWARDSVILLE The rezoning of the Rosewood Heights Farm Fresh store to allow the sale of packaged liquor was approved by the Madison County Board after a long debate Wednesday. The board OK’d a request by Priyan Patel on behalf of Sejal Patel and SSM Dairy Corp. to allow the rezoning of the Farm Fresh at 740 E. Airline Drive from R-3 Residential to B-5 Business. The change would allow the sale of packaged liquor, but would require additional action for any other requests, such as a license to pour alcohol or allow video gaming, which local residents had adamantly opposed.

Three New Members Approved for Madison County Board

WBGZ Radio 1/31/2021 | By Mark Ellebracht - WBGZ Radio The Madison County Board approved three new members during a special meeting late Friday, filling three vacancies on the board.  Valarie Doucleff in District 6 Godfrey, Mike Babcock in District 14 Wood River, and Terry Eaker in District 15 in Bethalto. Doucleff and Eaker were approved unanimously, while the vote was 19-4 in favor of Babcock’s approval.  Babcock is currently the Wood River Township Supervisor and ran unsuccessfully in recent elections for the Illinois House and the Illinois Senate. Doucleff is a teacher in the Alton School District and Eaker owns a business in Bethalto.  Both Babcock and Eaker were new names proposed by Madison County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler, who last week had his original candidates for the three vacancies shot down by the board.  Members of both parties said Prenzler did not give the board enough time to consider the candidates and study their backgrounds.  Doucleff was the lone
