Founders. they invested just $1.5 billion in companies founded by women. that means women got just 2.2% of the funding being handed out. and it gets worse. on average, companies run by women get about $4.5 million each. that s actually down from $6.1 million in 2015, and $5.1 million in 2014. so what s the problem? there is a pattern recognition about who should get that capital. and that pattern recognition is, especially in silicon valley, is much more a male entrepreneur. kay is a partner at springboard growth capital. for the last 18 years, she s helped secure $7.8 billion of funding for nearly 700 women-led companies. she said gender bias still exists because the overwhelming majority of venture capitalists are men, and they approach male entrepreneurs differently. men will pitch in a certain ....
