FCHS Charitable Foundation Board Meets in Quarterly Session

The Fairfield Community High School Charitable Foundation Board Met in their quarterly session on Monday Evening. At the meeting, the board honored Mike Sullivan for his 21 years of service to the board and also thanked Jill Fulkerson, outgoing superintendent for Fairfield Community High School, for her 9 years of service to the board. The board approved the minutes from the January meeting. No financial report was released as the treasurer was not at the meeting. In the secretary report, the Wayne County CEO sent a thank you report for their investment to the program as well as sent their annual report and invited the foundation to the CEO Trade Show at Willow Creek Venue his upcoming Sunday. The council set the date for the annual foundation golf outing. That date will be on Saturday, September 16th The outing is normally on homecoming weekend, but with the homecoming game on Saturday, the outing needed to be moved to another day. March Moves Out Of Area Like A Lion

Severe weather was the big story on Friday as numerous Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Tornado Warnings moved through the area. The first watch came down for portions of our area around 1 PM. There were several reports of damage in the Marion County Area around Salem as well as damage reported with trees down in the Clay County Area. The big severe weather story was to the north in Jasper and Crawford Counties where the National Weather Service out of Lincoln issued a Tornado Emergency for Crawford County and the City of Robinson. Damage was reported to the south campus of Lincoln Trail College at Gordon Junction as well as several houses sustaining significant damage. Just south of Fairfield on Illinois 45, Rural Fairfield Fire Crews and emergency personnel were called to a few accidents on US-45 near Willow Creek Venue as well as some downed trees in that area. Wayne County Chamber of Commerce would like to announce the Annual Senior Citizen's Christmas Light Tour Monday, December 12th. A light meal will be served at Ellen Moore Church following the light tour. A performance by the Roasted Chestnuts will also get underway around 6:00 PM. Rides Mass Transit will provide transportation for seniors 55 and up. To get on the list please sign up at Fairfield Apartments, Brookstone, The Fairfield Highrise, or Fairway Apartments. Pick up at these locations will be at 5:00 on Monday, December 12. To nominate a home for the tour, please call the Chamber Office at 842-6116 on or before Thursday, December 8th.
