MONROE COUNTY, MI – An Ypsilanti man was killed in a crash Thursday evening on US-23 when he was rear-ended while backing up along the side of the freeway, police say.
Emergency crews were called at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, to a two-vehicle crash on north US-23 near Consear Road in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators determined the Ypsilanti man, 33, was going north on US-23 when, for unknown reasons, he pulled over onto the shoulder of the freeway, stopped, and began backing up onto the roadway in reverse, police say. ....

fatal crash in Whiteford Township

WHITEFORD TOWNSHIP An Ypsilanti man died as a result of his injuries following a two-vehicle crash Thursday in Whiteford Township, the Monroe County Sheriff s Office reported.
The accident happened about 6:50 p.m. on northbound US-23, south of Consear Road, which is Exit 3.
According to the report, the 33-year-old Ypsilanti man was driving a black Hyundai Tiburon northbound on the highway when, for unknown reasons, the Hyundai came to a stop on the shoulder of the freeway.
Then the Hyundai started to travel in reverse, southbound on the northbound shoulder, and entered the right lane of travel, reports said.
At that point, a 52-year-old Adrian man was driving a gray 2010 Ford Expedition northbound in the right lane of US-23, according to reports. ....
