Petition on road safety after pensioner dies at Wirral roundabout


Police closed off Kings Lane at junction with Broadway in Bebington following the incident
MORE than 900 people have signed a road safety petition following a collision which took a 77-year-old man’s life.
Last month, pensioner Edward Ted  Bevan was killed after being hit by a car near Broadway roundabout in Bebington.
A petition on change.org created by Edward Lamb argues that the roundabout is unsafe and the junction must be changed.
The petition read: It is clear to anyone who has crossed the road on foot at Broadway roundabout that it is not safe for pedestrians to cross. There is nothing to slow drivers on the approach to this busy junction. ....

Government cash leads to zero rough sleepers in Wirral
IT has been confirmed that all those sleeping rough in Wirral at the start of the pandemic have been found accommodation.
The news follows a directive from the Government to get everyone in and, with the cash to support it, Wirral Council, housing associations, charities and housing advisers have delivered.
In addition, a further 774 people have been found short-term or permanent housing, including people at risk of becoming homeless, since the Government instructed all councils to act on March 23.
Other measures included instructions to mortgage lenders to support homeowners who were struggling to pay mortgages and more protections for people who rent. ....
