the decision not to bring charges against four retired detectives, who ran the first investigation into the murder of stephen lawrence. stephen was murdered in april 1993 in a racist attack in south london. the initial investigation failed to bring anyone to justice. two of the murderers were eventually convicted in 2012. our reporter daniel de simone broke this story, here s his report. we have had a statement from stephen s mother. she is saying that today s decision by the cps marks a new low in the way that the criminal justice system has treated her and her family. justice system has treated her and herfamily. herstatement justice system has treated her and her family. her statement says the decision of the cps not to prosecute the senior officers who were involved in the investigation of her son s cases unjustifiable. she goes on to say that institutional racism was at the heart of the first investigation and yet no consideration had been given to how it impacted ....
