in the 90s and early noughties. this comes hot off the heels of disappointing china trade data on tuesday showing exports sank at their fastest rate since the pandemic. global demand for chinese made goods is falling down more 14% in the year tojuly. but domestic demand is down, too, with imports also falling by more than 12% in the same period. earlier, i spoke to janet mui, who s the head of market analysis at rbc brewin dolphin, and she explained where the deflation was coming from. deflation data, basically mostly coming from food prices and also commodities prices like raw materials, energy, etc. actually, if you look at the underlying inflation. things like services, things like tourism, leisure, hotels, actually they are up. the core inflation is up from 0.4% to 0.8%, but obviously it s still pretty muted. so overall, i think it is a concern that china prices are contracting and it could be lasting for a while as well. how likely do you think it is, though, th ....
as it could have been, certainly not as restrictive as the rumours suggested it would be when the administration first announced announced it was considering something like this. you know, it really only targets new investments into chinese firms, and only chinese firms that derive more than 50% of their revenue from sensitive sectors like ai, quantum computing, and advanced semiconductors. and that is far more narrow than we could ve seen because last october, the administration talked about a broader range of industries that were national security sensitive and would require either export controls or some sort of investment restriction, or both. as michelle mentioned, businesses get a say in this what kind of reaction are you expecting from american companies? well, american companies that have been investing in these will not like this and will push back, and try to seek implementation that is as narrow as possible. it ll be a back and forth conversation, i m sure, ....

important discussions we have had this week. the supreme court has agreed now to consider former president trump s claim of presidential immunity in his federal election interference case. we it will further delay a potential trial. the high court has scheduled arguments for april 22nd, and a final ruling might not come until months later at the end of the term in june. if the court ruled in favor of trump the special counsel s charges would be dismissed. the u.s. court of appeals unanimously ruled trump does not have absolute immunity. the supreme court does affirmed that, the delays still would push the start of the trial probably into the fall. let s bring in former litigator and msnbc legal correspondent lisa rubin, and former u.s. attorney and msnbc legal analyst joyce vance. good morning to you both. lisa, let s pause for a moment, i think this was shocking used a lot of people, let s talk about what the decision is and what it is not, it does not mean the supre ....
