His revised budget is 288 billion for 2024, much lower than his original 310 billion budget. Governor newsom said the state is facing a 27. 6 billion budget deficit for the 20 2425 fiscal year. His proposal includes cuts in services to about 260 state programs, and hes also proposing an 8 reduction in the states workforce by eliminating unfilled job posts, plus or minus 10,000 vacant positions.
