Culture21/Feb/2021 International Mother Language Day is observed annually on February 21 as a way of promoting the awareness of linguistic diversity across the world. On the very same day in 2001, the father of the Western Pahari Language movement in Himachal Pradesh, professor and politician, Narain Chand Parashar, passed away. In this article, we put forward the case for February 21 to be observed as the Western Pahari Language Day in Himachal Pradesh as a tribute to Professor Parashar and his tireless efforts to promote indigenous language recognition.
