Ellwood City School District makes plans for $3.6 million from stimulus

Ellwood City Ledger
ELLWOOD CITY – School district leaders have an answer to the age-old question, What would you do if you had a million dollars? Or, more accurately, an answer to the lesser-known question, What would you do with an extra $3.6 million?
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Ellwood City Area School District is set to receive $3,662,014 in Elementary and Secondary School Relief (ESSER) grants from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARP), the $1.9 trillion stimulus package signed into law by President Joe Biden in March. Ellwood City teachers and staff will get J&J vaccine

Ellwood City Ledger
ELLWOOD CITY – With a turbulent start to the second semester, education and support staff at the Ellwood City Area School District are ready for some shots of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, of course.
Gov. Tom Wolf announced last Wednesday that the state will prioritize Pre-K-12 public and non-public school staff to receive the newly approved Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, and some faculty and staff at ECASD will be among the first to get it.
I m just happy that our staff can get these shots,  said Superintendent Wes Shipley.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the state has been slotted to receive 94,600 doses of the vaccine. Those doses will be distributed to state intermediate units based on the proportion of Pre-K to 12 school employees in each IU s region, and site operations will be overseen by the Pennsylvania National Guard and AMI Expeditionary Healthcare LLC. ....
