Ellwood City Ledger ELLWOOD CITY – School district leaders have an answer to the age-old question, "What would you do if you had a million dollars?" Or, more accurately, an answer to the lesser-known question, "What would you do with an extra $3.6 million?" According to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Ellwood City Area School District is set to receive $3,662,014 in Elementary and Secondary School Relief (ESSER) grants from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARP), the $1.9 trillion stimulus package signed into law by President Joe Biden in March. Though definite decisions haven't been made on spending yet, district officials are planning to use the money to close the learning gaps created by COVID-19, provide additional educational and emotional support for students and tackle some larger instructional initiatives.
