his mother said a lot of things. god love you, indeed. good morning, welcome to morning joe. it s friday, march 19th. with us, we have msnbc contributor, mike barnicle, and white house reporter for the associated press, jonathan lamir. joe and mika have the morning off. it is a busy morning, though, as kasie just mentioned, we re getting fans in the stands for baseball. good for you. mets, yankees, 20% capacity, a few thousand fans in there. at least it s a start. i know how excited you are about the yankees hot start and spring training and seeing some of those great yankees fans populating that stadium in the bronx. as my mother would say actually, i can t say that on the air. you better no. we re going to have 12% capacity at fenway park. lamir, you excited for the yanks? they re looking good in the spring? willie, my question is, as yankee stadium fills up to 10, 15, 20% capacity, that s obviously going to leave a lot of empty seats, particularly dow
office. and in the midst of all of this, president biden will meet with stacey abrams, the woman widely credited helping flip the state of georgia and hand democrats control of the house. it comes at a critical time for voting rights in the peach state. sweeping new voting restrictions could be voted on as soon as monday. more on all of that coming up but first i want to bring in my colleague kelly o donnell at the white house and blayne alexander in atlanta. kelly, this trip has taken a whole different meeting since the shooting. what is the focus going to be? there are definitely dimensions to this day. it s the first time the president and vice president are traveling together. given the tragedy that unfolded in atlanta and wider reaction, especially in the u.s. asian american community, the white house decided to add a component to speak to those issues and the president and vice president will have a private leader with the leaders of the asian community and be makin
that seeks to deny the real fears in the communities. as a result of historic racism exacerbated by a former president and media allies who describe the coronavirus pandemic as the china virus or kung flu for more than a year up to and as recently as this week. the right is doubling down on the violence trutherism with this comment from congresswoman chip roy. we believe in justice. there is an old saying in texas find the rope and get a tall oak tree. you know, we take justice very seriously. we ought to do that. round up the bad guys. my concern about this hearinging is that it seems to want to venture into the policing of rhetoric in a free society. now we are talking about whether talking about china, the chi coms, whatever phrasing we want to use, if some people say we think those people are the bad guys. i think the chinese communist party are the bad guys. and i think that they re harming people. those remarks prompted an immediate outcry, among these colleagues in
case of michael cohen. allen weisselberg has been his financial right hand for almost half a century. do you suspect he would be willing based upon what he hears about his own case today, to turn on his long-time boss? that s the ultimate question. in a story we broke on this program with jennifer weisselberg, she said the sun rises and sets for the weisselbergs with the trumps, so will that carry forward? i think that s the ultimate question. you never know until somebody is actually in a courtroom, sees the weight and the gravity of the law and the potential consequences they face whether or not they re going to make a decision to plead guilty and eventually cooperate. so i think today is going to be a new feeling for allen weisselberg you re out of the bubble, the confines of the trump tower now you re before a court and before a lot of reporters, i think it s a very different scene. so how that looks and goes
multiple new reports this week say some witnesses have already been contacted or asked to prepare for testimony as the investigation escalates. joining me now to break all this down is msnbc contributor and former u.s. attorney joyce vance. joyce, great to see you this afternoon. thanks for joining us on this. i spoke with allen weisselberg s former daughter-in-law, jennifer, yesterday who was served an election notice this week according to her in cooperation for investigators. now i have to get a real estate lawyer on top of it and try to fight even though there s a moratorium on covid and i spoke to the attorney general s office about it. it doesn t matter. rules don t apply to the trumps or weisselbergs. donald trump knows the owner of my building. they do real estate deals together for decades, 40, 50, decades. and so they have the influence to say we will withdraw all future real estate deals with you and your management company
