Though the measure to repeal a 2020 law passed the Republican-led House of Delegates two weeks ago, the Democrat-controlled Senate committee “passed the bill by indefinitely” on a 9-6 party line vote.
The Republican-led House of Delegates approved the legislation on a 52-45 party line vote on Feb. 11. It now heads to the Democrat-controlled Senate, where it faces a steeper climb. The 15-member Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to take up the bill Monday.
