Really ultimately tell us this was a natural earthquake. as opposed to manmade. what they are trying to say is this particular earthquake, the 3.5 with a depth of 5 kilometers, was different than a lot of the wavelengths we were seeing in the previous ones. take for example the one earlier this month that was a 6.3 that north korea had told was a manmade. what they are saying is they are noticing discrepancies in the wave forms, but they also make the statement we cannot conclusively confirm at this point the nature of the event. they are not quite there yet to actually announce and confirm, rather, what they think this was. however, this is much weaker than many of the recent ones we ve seen. not just the one earlier this month, victor and christi, but years. 5.1 in 2014, 4.3 in 2006. for a lot of the previous ones out of north korea, this is much smaller than a lot of the other ones we ve seen over the past ....

Enhance your reception. that s why he says, les, here is a thing that says shape of the pulses. because if you can t hear it, then there is a certain shape whatever the instrument that is picking it up. i wanted to get a visual picture what these folks are doing with all this instrumentation. they re not actually hearing something. they re more than likely looking at a visual. they re watching it. that s right. and you put together, there is another i don t know if you have another graphic that you put together. and it s got the one with the green lines. what was that one? what is that all about? the two wave forms. yeah. well, that s a wave form that we saw. this is actually i don t know if we ll be able to pick that up because it s so faint. it s going to be difficult. there is a graphic. the top one is a sort of wavier. this is a single frequency. right. and then this one you can see that the period or the distance ....

Explanation as to what and we have some visuals to show of that. you have very simple explanation as to how we figure this out, if it s actually pings from the black box. you say number one is frequency. yes. we re looking for 37.5 kilohertz. okay. on the screen you see two different wave forms. one is of a constant frequency. and the other one is what we call a chirp. where you see on the left side and the right side, they re different frequencies. they re varying, different amounts. so if this pinger was programmed to be a chirp, you would recognize that and it would be differentiated from anything else that was not with that particular frequency, duration, repetition rate, lots of different ways to describe it. we re going to have some sound of that in just a little bit. so it s either a pure tone or chirp. you said the duration of a tone burst. yes. the manufacturer sets how long ....

certainly sounds like we re getting into an area of interest. obviously we don t know if these are associated with the aircraft yet, but it certainly looks like we re seeing a lot more debris and just general nflotsam in th water. it s very telling that in the former area of search the plane saw virtually nothing even though satellites were picking up debris left, right and center, but when the planes went to look for it, they couldn t find it. that could be the product of the wave forms and the water. but here just as soon as they went into the search area, the new area, wolf, they were over the new search area while the australians were announcing it. and five planes all claimed to have seen debris or at least objects on the water. of course, we know this area is called the garbage ocean of the world. we know there s an enormous ....

The u.s. geological survey. we cannot conclusively confirm the active nature of the event. they don t know if this was natural or a man made quake causing the tremor. the wave forms are different than previous emptss a t this site. they are trying to make that distanks which means they cannot say what the trigger was for this particular quake. the depth of this earthquake is poorly constrained and has been held to this. and again, at this point in time, the u.s. geological survey gone with 3.5, depth 5.0. as ben pointed out, lower than the previous ones. not just the one beginning of the month, which was the 6.3. even start going back years, in 2013, a 5.1. 2009, 4.7. ....
