i think the guidance we got from public health authorities was not very well informed, was changed a lot, wasn t explained well. the best example is the requirement people have to stay 6 feet apart which was the single costliest piece of advice that the cdc issued during this pandemic. that s what forced schools to close because they couldn t maintain 6 feet of distance between students, and it wasn t grounded in very clear science, and it shifted to 3 feet. originally they wanted people to stay 10 feet apart. i think the presumption is that public health officials put out guidance that wasn t well informed, wasn t well explained. people now will have a fundamental question on whether public health officials will be more empowered in a public health crisis. i think to mount a crisis, we ll need to empower our public agencies, but there will be a lot of people skeptical about doing that. it s not a left or right divide on this question, but it certainly will break it down on political l
