Captivated our region for nearly 40 years. The sisters vanished while walking home from Wheaton Plaza Shopping Center in the 70s. And now we learned Montgomery County police are actively follow up on their disappearance. Detectives are now working side by side with Virginia State police and the Bedford County Sheriffs Office in thaxton, virginia, outside of roanoke. The land theyre searching was once owned by the family of Lloyd Lee Welch jr. Back in february, Montgomery County police named him as a person of interest in the case. Sheila, who was 12 and kathryn who was 10 disappeared in 1975. They were never heard from or seen again. And their case had gone cold until this past february when welch was named for possibly being connected to the case.
