Wartburg's David Hollingsworth was named the American Rivers Conference Male Athlete and Wrestler of the Week after helping the #1 Wartburg Wrestling to their second consecutive A-R-C title.
This weekend in lieu of NCAA Division III National Championships, the Wartburg Knights won three national titles in replacement events.
On KWAY Country you heard Wartburg dominate the NWCA National Wrestling Championships. Team scores were not kept officially, but the Knights were the top scoring team. Wartburg’s David Hollingsworth won an individual title at 157 pounds and Kyle Briggs pinned all but one opponent on his way to a 174 pound title.
The Wartburg College men’s and women’s track & field teams both took first place in the DIII Elite Indoor Championships hosted by the Knights at Hoover Fieldhouse. The Knights should have lots of momentum heading into the outdoor season which should feature an NCAA Championships.
