The west oakland bart station is the only east bay station offering safety escorts this year. Two bart Police Officers and Six Community Service Agents are on hand to walk people to their cars from 5 00 to 8 00. The safety escorts are part of  a Community Outreach effort that started three years ago. Over the years, different east bay part stations have offered the same service. Lot of times, when these people are coming off the trains, with lots of bags, trying to get keys out to go to the cars, they are not as aware as they normally are. WACO, TX — Every year on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, organizations and members of the Waco community participate in random acts of kindness.
Even in the midst of the pandemic, people came out to help make their community a better place.
“This is what Martin Luther King, Jr. was all about, volunteerism and making this world a better place,” said Keep Waco Beautiful board member, Ben March.
“I would hope Dr. King would be proud of what his legacy has created. That he would be proud that people care about their communities. So, I hope that Dr. King would be proud and happy that we celebrate him today,” said the Keep Waco Beautiful office manager, Linda Ferrell. ....
