PML-N secures victory in PP-84 Khushab by-election PML-N secures victory in PP-84 Khushab by-election PML-N candidate Barrister Moazzam Sher Kallu won the PP-84 Khushab by-election by a wide margin after securing 73,081 votes, according to provisional results released by the Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday. Unofficial results showed PTI’s Ali Hussain coming in second place with 62,903 votes. Independent candidate Amjad Raza came in third with 8,340 votes, followed by the candidate from the recently banned Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), Hafiz Muhammad Asghar Ali, who secured 5,782 votes. PPP’s Ghulam Habib Ahmed came in seventh with 235 votes. The seat which covers tehsil Noorpur Thal and some villages of tehsil Quaidabad, had fallen vacant due to the death of PML-N’s Waris Kallu who won it four times consecutively. 3rd consecutive election victory for PML-N in Punjab May 6, 2021 PML-N’s Malik Moazzam was in the lead with 69,816 votes against PTI’s Ali Hussain who had acquired 59,235 votes as results from 220 of 229 polling stations of PP-84 Khushab by-election trickled in till filing of this report. The seat had fallen vacant after the death of PML-N MPA Malik Waris Kallu, who died on March 12 from Covid-19. The polling started at 8 am and continued till 5 pm without any break. The government by way of preparations, had formed 10 teams to monitor the electoral process all the way to the announcement of the results. The PML-N, PTI and PPP were among the parties contesting the poll, with a total of eight candidates in the race. ....

Unofficial results from 130 polling stations out of 229 (at 10.45pm) showed that PML-N had bagged 38970 votes against PTI’s 32905. The seat which covers tehsil Noorpur Thal and some villages of tehsil Quaidabad, had fallen vacant due to the death of PML-N’s Waris Kallu who won it four times consecutively. Party sources said she had undergone corona test again as she was having severe sore throat. The family doctors treating Maryam had recommended her a corona test. She underwent COVID-19 test again and the report was awaited. PML-N Deputy Secretary General Ataullah Tarar told the media on Monday that Maryam Nawaz was undergoing treatment and after recovery she would start taking part in political activities. He said that Pakistan Tekreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was trying to avoid bye-elections on the pretext of corona. He alleged that the PTI had asked the Health Department to suspend Daska elections on the pretext of corona. “We are peaceful people, but this time we will not allow the PTI to bully our workers,” he added. ....
