Were obviously going to do what we have to do to protect ourselves and our troops. Nobody is at all turning away from that threat or their historic and sustained support for these terrorist groups. John, just a followup to what peter asked earlier, two questions, but one to drill down, i assume when the president said aid isnt getting fast enough to gaza that hes not critiquing our efforts to get it there. And without Hanging A Hook On who is responsible, is he saying that more can be done from our end . Is there more that can be done to get the aid to them . And so i think deterrence is really the key here. and the indo-pacific command, they are aware of that. the administration is aware of it. and i think we got to show a strong deterrence there. i have a hard time imagining many americans, especially after the 20 years of war in afghanistan, and the war in iraq, thinking that they are willing to send one american service member, one man, one woman, one son, one daughter to fight a war against china to protect taiwan. however lofty the goal, however solid the commitment, however important it is to deter china. i just have a tough time imagining any americans saying, yeah, that s worth it. i think we are a war-weary nation. the american people, at the end of the day would they be willing to go to war with china over taiwan? and we talk about the democracy and freedom issues, the fact that taiwan is a great intelligence asset for us in the region. but if we don t show that deterrence. ....
What does the united states get? really hard to say. absolutely nothing, other than the cementing of our status as an unreliable actor who doesn t keep their word, betrays their allies just like when we pulled out of the iran deal and the paris climate accords. and the figure leaf the president continues to hide behind nonsense kelley, he s bringing the troops home from combat to a s war weary nation is a lie. u.s. service members have been relocated to iraq while he s sending thousands more to saudi arabia. this is not about ending wars. it s about donald trump subverting american interests, the interests of the strong men that he so admires. ....
What do you need to know in order for there to be support for any action the president might want to take? everyone has their suspicions. seems like 100% confidence on the part of mike pompeo so you think i want to narrow in. you think democrats couldn t back or wouldn t back support, military action if all of that information it s going to be split. we had senator chris coons on fox and friends parroting a lot of what you re hearing from republicans. we have to keep in mind, america is a war-weary nation. it was a direct attack on saudi arabia, not the united states of america. there s many people including the president and leading figures in the democratic party that are sick and tired and have pledged to make sure that we re in less wars, not more. all right. i want to go to senator james risch who says the president doesn t want war. ....
