The goal of the modernized logo, designed by Red Cactus Marketing, was “to better capture and express who we are to all of our communities (and) to have a name and visual identity that more accurately creates an authentic representation of us,” according to CSUMB spokesman Walter Ryce. But for some students, it still didn't meet the mark.
Monday was supposed to be the first day of the spring semester at CSUMB. But now, professors are notifying students class might be cancelled for the whole week as faculty are striking to get a pay raise.
“Let me assure you, as a new chancellor four months into the job, I have no interest in a strike,” the university’s chancellor Mildred García said. “We are ready and willing to come back to the bargaining table with the California Faculty Association, but we must work within our financial realities.”
“There were so many incidents to talk about that it’s easy to get distracted by the noise,” said Leslie Williams, the former Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. “I just want people to know that at its core, I was a campus leader who lost a 30-year career for speaking out against what happened to me.”
