washington street, and two or three families come into this area from one of the arab countries. they normally lived in the neighborhoods that were close to black neighborhoods in greenville, because they, too, were discriminated against to some degree. but greenville was still at that time filled with the kind of bigotry that most of us had learned to live with and expect. black people during that time new their place and they stayed in it. we as children coming up, we knew our place, it was the way things were. it was the way things had always been. i can recall as a child hearing stories about willie earle, who was a young black man who was lynched in greenville by a mob of white cabdrivers. he was taken out of a jail and take it over to pickens county, but the lynching took place right in greenville. and i can remember hearing everybody talk about what happened to willie earle. and when we as children would think about being afraid of anything, we would think about ....

chad mills is at colonial life arena where fans have packed the house for a sellout. chad. fans were lined up outside colonial life arena for hours. they are ready for this big match up between number one uconn and the number two gamecocks. this is what it looked like several hours ago. it was cold, it was rainy, it was windy, and it was nasty. but hundreds of fans were already lined up. many of them gamecock fans are hoping the women will finally get it done tonight and beat the huskies. last year, of course, that didn t happen. but this year, the game is being played here in columbia at colonial life arena make a difference. keep in mind, they ve won 45 straight on their home court. it is a sold-out game, but there are a good number of uconn fans who have traveled to columbia for this big matchup. i caught up with a uconn fan and a gamecock fan just a short while ago. nothing s going to stop gamecock fans. we re out in probably some cold weather no matter who you a ....
