It s not a head-based decision, Payne says of that Brightwell moment.
As youâll recall, Ainsley Whitly (Halston Sage) followed in her father Martinâs (Michael Sheen) footsteps and killed the villainous Endicott at the end of Season 1. Malcolm then covered up his sisterâs crime and disposed of the body (parts). Europol agent Simon Hoxley (Cumming) came to town to investigate and subsequently deduced that the same person killing off the rest of Endicottâs courier network took his life. It sounds like that will now be all there is to it.
âTheyâre all bonded by blood and in the covering up of the murder at this point because they all know about it,â Payne says of the Whitlys. âTheyâve all got blood on their hands, which they did before, but in a very different way and now itâs much more direct that Martinâs not the only person to have killed someone. Theyâre all wrestling with that the whole time. Itâs sad really becaus

Payne teases whatâs to come in the now series finale after that.
Does Malcolm know anything about the situation heâs now in?
Tom Payne: No, he has no idea whatâs going on. He just wanted his father to run. Itâs a complete surprise to Malcolm wherever they end up in the finale.
What can you say about where theyâre going and what weâll see between them in the finale?Â
This is the first time really that theyâve been out in the world together as father and son, and thatâs a new relationship for both of them. Malcolm is an adult now, and obviously, Martin is on the run so that is a bit difficult for Malcolm because heâs supposed to be working with the NYPD and should really be turning him in.
