Laredo City Council to discuss several COVID mitigation ideas

Laredo City Council meets Monday to discuss several potential plans of action in the city’s fight against the pandemic. At an emergency meeting last week, several local doctors spoke about the appropriate measures council should take. Some advocated for strategic closures, some for a citywide shutdown akin to what council enacted last March.
Although this would supersede Gov. Greg Abbott’s emergency order, Councilmember Rudy Gonzalez placed an item on the agenda to discuss a possible citywide closure. If council chooses this route, they would invite a lawsuit from the Texas attorney general. ....
