At an emergency meeting last week, several local doctors spoke about the appropriate measures council should take. Some advocated for strategic closures, some for a citywide shutdown akin to what council enacted last March. Although this would supersede Gov. Greg Abbott’s emergency order, Councilmember Rudy Gonzalez placed an item on the agenda to discuss a possible citywide closure. If council chooses this route, they would invite a lawsuit from the Texas attorney general. ....
