Much has been written about Tier III regulations and reducing nitrogen oxide emissions, but NOx emissions are only part of the drive towards the decarbonisation of shipping. Following the adoption and entry into force of the Paris Agreement on climate change, in 2016 the International Maritime Organization (IMO) outlined its own roadmap for a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 compared to 2008 levels.
