Air quality on yachts | SuperYacht Times

Written by 6 May 2021 | 08:30 (UTC) As the world gradually returns to ‘normal’, so too does the yachting industry. Not only will luxury, comfort and craftsmanship remain a key priority for clients, but safety, sanitation and eco-friendliness will also be high up on the list of requirements when either buying or chartering a yacht. Air quality is a buzzword in yachting right now, with boats like Columbus Yachts’ 50m Project Lady leading the charge. Complete with a yacht air purification system, the Palumbo Yachts and Hydrotec collaboration is on track for her 2022 delivery date. While the pandemic has catalysed a multitude of new modifications for better on-board air quality, some say that these enhancements were already on the horizon.

Written by 6 May 2021 | 07:00 (UTC) As a pinnacle symbol of luxury, no experience on board a superyacht is made whole without fine dining. With immediate proximity to the sea and expert chefs on board, guests aboard superyachts have access to some of the world’s best ingredients, prepared to the finest standard. Just as the age-old adage declares that ‘the kitchen is at the heart of the home’, the galley is central to a superyacht. The Yacht of 2030: Van Oossanen s eco-friendly superyacht concept

29 December 2020 09:00 Technology Design Justin Ratcliffe Much has been written about Tier III regulations and reducing nitrogen oxide emissions, but NOx emissions are only part of the drive towards the decarbonisation of shipping. Following the adoption and entry into force of the Paris Agreement on climate change, in 2016 the International Maritime Organization (IMO) outlined its own roadmap for a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 compared to 2008 levels. Photo: Jeff BrownThe yachting sector has so far been excluded from the strategy, but with a revision planned for spring 2023 and aware that the industry is under pressure to lead by example, Van Oossanen Naval Architects in the Netherlands was prompted to initiate an in-house research project to look into the eco-friendly yacht of the future.
