Many Shades of Colour Young Women s Conference
A virtual conference staged by Des Moines nonprofit Hip-Hope will seek to build young Black and brown women s self esteem and resilience by pairing them with mentors who have achieved success.
The fourth annual Many Shades of Colour Young Women s Conference will feature women such as keynote speaker Pepsy Wirth, who works on Microsoft s Xbox team; North Liberty City Council member RaQuishia Harrington; and Kira Canada, a sophomore at Lincoln High in Des Moines with a perfect GPA. They ll be speaking to some 480 sixth-through-12th grade students. ....

DES MOINES, Iowa Hip Hope s Many Shades of Colour, Young Women s Conference is heading into the fourth year of inspiring and teaching young women. Due to the pandemic and making sure everyone is safe, organizers are holding it virtually this year.
The conference is open to young girls of all races from grades six through 12.
The theme for this year s conference is I Am Me.
