This is cnn newsroom. A key u. S. Senate vote that would establish a commission to investigate the January 6th Capitol Insurrection appears to be just hours away. The vote was expected to be held Thursday Night, but has been delayed until sometime later today. Senate republicans are expected to block the measure underscoring the deep partisan divide that has emerged sips the riot. Just a few months ago some republicans were adamant that a 9 11style Commission into the Capitol Security was needed, now they argue that it wouldnt bring any new information about the insurrection and could turn into a partisan dispute. The democrats say american people need to know the truth about what happened. Five people were killed and about 140 Police Officers were injured during the attack. For many of the Police Officers who defended the capitol that day the memories and emotions are still very raw. This worker i spoke to who did not want to be identified said he did not witness the shooting but its his understanding this happened at the beginning of a shift. Now, he wasnt aware of a formal meeting taking place when this shooting happened but he said it would not be uncommon for workers to be getting their Operating Instructions for the day, to be huddling together, and he said its his understanding thats when these particular Shots Rang Out. We are in front of a county building, the Reunification Center for families has been moved from the Sheriffs Office to this particular county building.
