Our breaking news is in Santa Cruz County where a sheriffs deputy is dead after being shot in what investigators say was an ambush attack. Shesh i have jim hart said at 1 30 saturday afternoon, a person reported seeing a van with guns and bombmaking devices. While Sergeant Gutzwiller and another deputy began investigating the van, parked off waldenberg avenue in ben lomond, they were attacked. As deputies began investigating they were ambushed with gunfire. And multiple improvised explosives. Officer down, lz set up by highlands park, officer down at 1430.
