Everyone. Im joined this morning by e. M. A. Director brian hastings, Major General sherrill gordon of the National Guard, and secretary taylor of the Alabama Law Enforcement agency. Were here to give an update on Hurricane Sally to the people of alabama. Were here to let the people of alabama know that every resource thats available to the state will be available for the people of alabama during their recovery. We also are here to assure you that we will be working with you as together we start rebuilding our homes, our businesses and our communities in the upcoming days, weeks and months. I know yesterday was very hard for a lot of folks in the cities and counties along the coast and throughout many other communities in our state. 16 years ago to the day, when hurricane ivan hit our state, Hurricane Sally provided an unwanted sequel. Citizens awoke to extensive damage and destructive property. Loss of power and infrastructure and, sadly, even the loss of life. It would be much worse.
Mr. President , all members are present. Please place your right hand over your heart join me in reciting the pledge of allegiance. [pledge of allegiance] thank you. Behalf of the board, i like to acknowledge the staff of sfgov tv who record each of our meetings and make the transcripts available to the public online. Colleagues, i like to take a few meetings to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment. The 19th amendment which guarantees and protect womens constitutional right to vote was ratified on august 18, 1920. Hundredth anniversary of this historic milestone is to reflect on incredible efforts to secure womens Voting Rights. It is a reminder of the unfinished work ahead of us to fulfill the promise of our democracy. For decades after the ratification of the 19th amendment, many women of color were prevented from casting ballots through poll taxes, literacy tests, violence, intimidation and racism. For many women of color, that didnt begin to c

The recommendations written in 2009 about how they are thinking about that. Obviously, we need to reconsider that. I totally understand the board of supervisors position. This is the wrong time for fare increases. We should be using every other tool before we get there. I get why s. F. M. T. A. Was between a rock and hard place. Lets remove that and make that not a problem any more. Lets revise how we think about fare increases. I get where that rationale may have been attractive 10 years ago. It doesnt make sense now. Lets move forward to figure out how to stabilize m. T. A. Without doing that on the backs of our most vulnerable riders. A couple months ago you werent clear. Now you will not increase fares during the recovery or pandemic . I would like to look at weighs to avoid doing that in the future. I dont want to increase them now or going forward. I dont think there are better ways to support muni. I have heard that loud and clear. That is what we need to do. This is so importan
Not to build housing. I want places for my kids to be able to live. I want others to enjoy what i enjoy which is housing security. Thank you. [indiscernible]. Im here to speak in support of the lot. Im personally squared when i transfer i wont be able to come back home and start a family. This is a perfect opportunity for that. What better way to have the inaugural day than starting off on the west side. Im really excited for the project and hopefully you can support it as well. Im a neighbor in this area. I dont support the project only because i dont support the height of it. Its a complete mismatch with the neighborhood. I love that were adding more Affordable Housing to the neighborhood. I think we need to consider the height of it. Most housing is two stories, this is four stories. Its a complete mismatch. Im a resident of San Francisco in d8 and a renter. I strongly support this project. I think if you look at it replacing a gas station with environmentally Family Friendly housin
