I’m fed up, and I’ve seen it all before.
Two weeks ago I watched a programme on the BBC about Easter in Israel’s holy sites. The presenter, a well-known and well-intentioned British actress, saw the security barrier which separates Israel and the West Bank and remarked about how it was “wrong”.
Rewind 20 years, it was 2001, I stood in Jerusalem deciding on what to grab for dinner with friends. Our indecision meant we didn’t get far. Two minutes later, a bomb exploded 50 metres away in the pizza restaurant we were considering going to, killing over 20 innocent teenagers and injuring hundreds. That suicide bomber was from Hamas. We jumped in a cab and left the area, people running and sirens blaring. Moments later, a second bomb exploded… exactly where I’d been standing during the first.

The Arkansas Senate failed to pass appropriations for the Arkansas Department of Commerce s 2021-2022 fiscal year on Monday. Members of the Senate voted 20-8 with five members not voting, which was ultimately not enough to pass Senate Bill 132.
In speaking against the bill, Sen. Trent Garner, R-El Dorado, said he could not vote for any appropriation that would fund and pay for the head of the Department of Commerce, Sec. Mike Preston. I’ve lost confidence in his ability to lead that critical department, Garner said. We look over the last year, we look at how contracts went to out-of-state businesses like Carvana for economic development, putting our small businesses here in Arkansas at a competitive disadvantage. We look at how he has authorized $15 million dollars for grants during the height of the pandemic without approval from this body.
China Says U.S. Relationship Based on Old Cold War Thinking

The current strained relationship between the U.S. and China the worst it has been in over 40 years is the fault of old Cold War thinking, said Beijing s Wolf Warrior diplomat on Wednesday.
In his first media appearance for 10 days since causing a fresh diplomatic row with Australia with a controversial viral tweet, China s foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian urged the incoming Biden administration to return bilateral relations to the right track.
Zhao said some people in the United States adhere to old Cold War thinking and ideological prejudice. He accused the U.S. government of treating international relations like a zero-sum game a phrase Chinese officials often used to describe President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo s tough stance on China.
